Neil & Dave provided the entertainment in front of the vintage Job's handcart. |
On Friday 15th June 2007, Staines Rugby Football Club was the venue for the latest Job's reunion. This was a rather special reunion as it marked 20 years since the sale of Job's back in 1987.
The evening was organized by Dave & Sue Rowlands and was an overwhelming success. The venue was just the right size for the number of people who attended with the bar staff being kept busy for the majority of the evening. A delicious buffet was also provided which was enjoyed by everyone.
Entertainment was courtesy of Neil & Dave on guitars who complimented the intimate, friendly atmosphere with familiar tunes throughout the evening. The music was kept at just the right level so as not to disturb the many conversations taking place as people reminisced and caught up with the all the latest news. Many of those who attended had not each other for many years so there was a lot of conversation to catch up with.
Various pieces of Job's memorabilia adorned the walls of the venue including a painting of the loading bays at Hanworth plant and of course the Job's flag. The Job's handcart that took pride of place on the stairs at Head Office for many years was also brought along for people to see. The Job's website was available to view on a laptop for the benefit of those who do not have internet access at home.
A large folder of old photographs brought to the reunion by Derek James aroused intense interest. The photographs had been given to Derek by Gilbert Sheriden for inclusion on the Job's website. Every photo is of superb quality and the majority date back over many years. They feature several aspects of Job's in general. We are very grateful to Derek and Gilbert for the loan of these photographs which will be carefully scanned and added to the website in due course to make a very valuable addition.
A kind gesture by Maureen Budden was made by way of a few words of thanks to Dave & Sue for organizing the event together with a collection for some flowers.
All in all it was a very well attended, enjoyable evening and everyone is now looking forward to the next reunion in 2009.

A message from Dave & Sue Rowlands
We think everyone will agree that the 2007 reunion was an overwhelming success and an evening that was enjoyed by all who attended.
We are delighted with the beautiful flowers and would like to thank everyone who contributed. Our special thanks go to Maureen Budden for her lovely speech and for initiating the collection for the flowers which is much appreciated.
We hope everyone enjoyed the evening as much as we did and look forward to hopefully seeing you all again in the not too distant future.
Many thanks once again.
Best Wishes,
Dave and Sue Rowlands.
