Bon Chef was set up to produce a range of deep frozen desserts including gateaux, cheesecakes, fruit pies and American style donuts from the specially designed and equipped factory at Stockport, Cheshire.

The deep frozen produce from the nitrogen tunnels was packaged and stored in the deep freeze storage rooms at the factory and distributed to clients throughout Great Britain in the Bon Chef refrigerated vehicles.

Product remained deep frozen from the time it left the fsctory to arrivingwith the client.

Bon Chef also launched a range of gateaux and desserts using the unique "Freeze-Flo" process developed by Rich's Products Corporation of America. This process is still widely used today and allows products to be served straight from the freezer which dramatically reduces thawing time and wastage. At the time Bon Chef was granted an exclusive manufacturing licence to produce "Freeze-Flo" desserts in the United Kingdom.
