The Book of Job

ashford branch staff in 1947

The Book of Job was the award-winning quarterly house magazine of Job's Dairy and was distributed free to every employee of H.A. Job Ltd and it's subsidiary companies. It was introduced by H.A. Roberts in 1929 to tell his family (as he endearingly referred to his employees) what was going on in the company.

The magazine content was very much focused on those who worked for Job's and it was a familiar sight to see the editor with his or her camera lurking around corners trying to get candid and natural shots of staff at work for the next issue.

Much of the content on this web site was taken from various issues of The Book of Job. This is largely because the stories and photographs contained in it's pages are the only remaining source of what life at Job's was really like. Once again we are always on the look out for unique photographs of anything to do with Job's so please feel free to contribute - it will always be greatly appreciated.
